Telemarketing: get started and use it well
Run outbound campaigns that reach more people, respect the rules and keep your numbers healthy.
Telemarketing runs outbound campaigns: our dialer calls your list and connects answered calls to your agents or to an AI calling agent.
What to prepare
- Your list, with permission to call. A spreadsheet is fine.
- Your goal: an appointment, a sale, a survey.
- A script, or the points an AI agent should cover.
- Calling hours for the country you are calling.
- Your numbers, to show as caller ID.
Choose a dial mode
| Mode | How it works | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Preview | The agent sees the contact, then calls | High-value calls |
| Progressive | Dials one call per free agent | Small teams |
| Power | Dials a fixed number of lines per free agent | Medium lists |
| Predictive | Predicts when agents will be free | Large teams and lists |
| AI agent | The AI makes the call and qualifies | Volume, first contact |
Best practice
- Call only people you may call. Keep your Do-Not-Contact list current, and remove anyone who asks.
- Respect calling hours in the contact's time zone.
- Keep the opening short and honest. Say who you are and why you are calling.
- Use a local number where you can. People answer local numbers more often.
- Limit attempts. Two or three tries a day with sensible gaps works better than calling constantly.
- Test on a small list first, then improve the script before calling the rest.
Advanced options
Ask us about these:
- Answering machine detection, with an optional voicemail message.
- Local presence: show the number that best matches the person you call.
- Retry rules for busy, no answer and machines.
- AI agent + person: the AI qualifies, and interested contacts go to a person.
Rules to know
Telemarketing laws differ by country. Many require consent, identification of the caller, calling hours, and an opt-out. You are responsible for your lists and your scripts. Check the rules for each country you call.
Common questions
Few people answer. Try another time of day, a local number, or a shorter list of better contacts. A number marked as spam needs a rest.
Agents wait too long. Your list may be mostly unanswered numbers, or the pacing is too low. Ask us to review it.
